SmartJobBoard used to print its price. Its pricing page showed $439 a month in April 2025. By November 2025 every number was gone, and what is left is two options, a revenue share and a flat annual fee, behind a Contact Sales button.
I did not request a quote, so nothing here is a quoted number. I read the page, traced its price through the Internet Archive, and worked out when a revenue share costs more than a flat fee.
Kardow is my company and competes with SmartJobBoard. It appears once, last, with its price and its limits.
SmartJobBoard pricing: TL;DR
- Price today: No public price: SmartJobBoard quotes every customer
- Last public price: $439 a month ($5,268 a year) in April 2025, up 26% from $349 in 2021
- Two models: A revenue share with nothing upfront, or a flat annual fee
- Break-even: Divide a flat price by the share: at 30%, a $2,148 plan wins once sales pass $7,160 a year
- A published price: Kardow Pro is $2,148 in year one, with 0% of your sales
What is SmartJobBoard?
SmartJobBoard is hosted job board software, founded in 2008, that no longer publishes a price: it sells a revenue share or a flat annual fee, both by quote. The catch: on a revenue share you pay more with every job you sell, and the percentage is not published.
Checked October 19, 2026 against smartjobboard.com/pricing and /features, and the Internet Archive's copies of its pricing page.
SmartJobBoard says more than 400 organizations rely on it, and its pricing page pitches the revenue share at professional and trade associations that charge employers to post jobs. For a table of every platform side by side, see job board software pricing, compared. For the platforms people move to, see SmartJobBoard alternatives.
How much does SmartJobBoard cost in 2026?
As of October 2026, SmartJobBoard's pricing page offers two options and no figures. A revenue share costs nothing upfront: SmartJobBoard processes every employer payment and pays you your share each month. A flat-fee subscription is one annual price. Asking sales is the only way to learn either number.
| Plan | Monthly | Setup fee | Year one |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue share | $0 | Not published | A share of every job sold (percentage not published) |
| Flat-fee subscription | Quote | Not published | Quote, billed as one annual price |
| Premium, last public price (April 2025), billed monthly | $439 | None, per its FAQ then | $5,268 |
| Premium, last public price (April 2025), billed annually | $329 | None, per its FAQ then | $3,948 |
Current page read October 19, 2026. The April 2025 rows come from the Internet Archive copy of April 22, 2025, the last one that shows a price. Year one is twelve months at the monthly rate plus any setup fee.
How has the SmartJobBoard price changed since 2016?
SmartJobBoard's own pricing page, as saved by the Internet Archive, shows the entry price climbing for years before the numbers disappeared. Premium went from $349 a month in April 2021 to $439 in September 2023, 26% more.
Each line is the cheapest plan the page listed, billed monthly, in US dollars. A change is drawn on the first archived copy that shows the new price; it can have happened any time after the copy before it. Hover or tap a dot for the date, the plan and the copy before it. Plans changed along the way: a $79 Starter plan existed until about 2020, and the 2016 plans were capped by active listings. How other vendors compare: job board software price history.

Between the April 22 and November 13, 2025 copies, the page changed from a price table to two short paragraphs. SmartJobBoard does not say why on the page, so I cannot tell you.
How I checked SmartJobBoard's pricing
I used only what SmartJobBoard itself has published, then did the arithmetic it leaves to you.
- Today's page: smartjobboard.com/pricing and /features, read in a browser on October 19, 2026
- Past prices: six copies of the same page from the Internet Archive, 2016 to 2025
- Break-even: the yearly sales at which a revenue share costs more than a flat fee, worked out below
- What I could not check: a quote, which I did not request, and the revenue-share percentage, which only sales gives out
When does revenue share cost more than a flat fee?
SmartJobBoard does not publish its percentage, so the shares below are examples, not its rate. The sum is the same for any rate: divide a flat price by the share. I used two flat prices: Kardow Pro at $2,148 for year one, and SmartJobBoard's last public Premium price of $5,268.
| Share kept | More than $2,148 (Kardow Pro) above | More than $5,268 (Premium) above |
|---|---|---|
| 20% | $10,740 a year | $26,340 a year |
| 30% | $7,160 a year | $17,560 a year |
| 50% | $4,296 a year | $10,536 a year |
Read it as: at a 30% share, the share costs more than Kardow Pro once yearly sales pass $7,160. Examples only, since SmartJobBoard has not published its percentage. A revenue share also pays for payment processing and support, which a flat plan may not include.
If you charge $200 a job post, $7,160 a year is about 36 posts, or three a month. Below that, a 30% share is the cheaper bill. Above it, a flat plan is.
What should I ask SmartJobBoard's sales team?
Each question below is something its pricing page leaves out. Ask for the answers in writing.
- The percentage: what share do you keep, and does it apply to every product I sell, such as job posts, resume access and featured listings?
- Payouts: when do they arrive, and what happens to payments still processing if I leave?
- The flat fee: what is the annual price, and can a board that charges employers choose it?
- Setup and contract: is there a setup fee, a minimum term or a notice period? The current page states none.
- Single sign-on and API: which plan includes them? They were Enterprise-only when prices were public.
Start with one question: must members sign in with their association login? If they must, shortlist platforms that list single sign-on and ask each for a demo against your own AMS. On their own pages, Cavuno lists it on every plan, JBoard on its top plan, and Niceboard, Spacewalk and SmartJobBoard on quoted plans. If members do not need to, Kardow covers member and non-member pricing and approvals, with invoicing on Scale, and no single sign-on. The details are in job board software with single sign-on.
Best for small sales: SmartJobBoard revenue share
Best fora new board that sells a few job posts a month and wants nothing upfront.
SmartJobBoard revenue share: what is it?
Per its pricing page, SmartJobBoard processes every employer transaction, pays out your non-dues revenue each month, and delivers a fully branded, AI-powered career center "without touching your budget". It pitches this at professional and trade associations that charge employers to post jobs. The percentage SmartJobBoard keeps is not published.
Pros
- Nothing upfront, by its own description.
- It processes the employer payments and pays you monthly.
- The same toolkit as the flat fee, with a customer-success and sales team.
Cons
- The percentage is not published.
- The cost grows with every sale, for as long as you stay.
- You are paid once a month, after SmartJobBoard has processed the payment.
Good for testing a niche. Get the percentage in writing, and work out the break-even once you sell a few posts a month.
Best for free postings or steady sales: SmartJobBoard flat fee
Best foran organization that posts jobs for free, or one that wants a cost that does not grow with its sales.
SmartJobBoard flat fee: what is it?
SmartJobBoard's page describes it as the whole platform, with AI matching, hosting, upgrades and support, for "one predictable annual price", and says a revenue share "makes little sense" for organizations that offer free postings. The price is quoted by sales. The page does not say whether a board that charges employers can choose it, or who then processes the payments, so ask both.
Its features page lists single sign-on and an API without naming a plan. When SmartJobBoard still printed prices, both sat on Enterprise only, so ask which tier includes them.
Pros
- One annual price that does not grow with your sales.
- Hosting, upgrades and support included, per its pricing page.
- API and single sign-on are on its features page.
Cons
- No public price, so you cannot compare without a call.
- Its page pitches it at organizations with free postings.
- Setup fees and contract length are not published.
The better deal once your sales pass the break-even point, if SmartJobBoard sells it to a board that charges employers. Ask for the price in writing.
Best for a public price and every job sale: Kardow
Best fora news site or newsletter that wants a fixed, public price and keeps every job sale.
Kardow: what is it?
Kardow is hosted job board software for publishers and newsletters, with job imports, employer checkout and your own branding.
I built Kardow to run Emplo.ca, a 22,000-member job community in Canada's capital region. Every plan price is on our pricing page. Kardow takes 0% of your job sales, and the money never passes through us: employers pay through your own Stripe account. There is no setup fee on any plan, and the done-for-you launch service is optional: free on Pro and Scale, and $299 one time on Starter. Pro is $2,148 in year one on monthly billing, or $1,608 if you pay for the year up front, 59% less than SmartJobBoard's last public Premium price of $5,268.
Kardow has no prebuilt AMS connectors and no single sign-on: members sign in with a six-digit emailed code, and with Google on Pro and Scale. SmartJobBoard lists single sign-on and an API on its features page, so if your members must sign in with an association account, check that first.
Key features
- 0% of your job sales: employers pay you directly
- No setup fee: the launch service is optional, and free on Pro and Scale
- White-label from Pro: hide the Kardow branding
- Job imports: 2,000 to 25,000 import credits a month, by plan
Pros
- Public prices and a 14-day free trial.
- 0% of your job sales, with employers paying you directly.
- White-label branding, API access and candidate profiles from the Pro plan.
Cons
- No prebuilt AMS connectors or single sign-on.
- Applicant tracking is a five-stage pipeline, built for light hiring rather than a full ATS.
Pricing
Pick Kardow if you want a known price and to keep every job sale. If your workflow depends on a prebuilt AMS connector or single sign-on, check that first. More options: SmartJobBoard alternatives.
When is SmartJobBoard the better choice?
Stay with SmartJobBoard if your board sells only a handful of posts a year: below the break-even point, a revenue share costs less than any flat fee. It is also the better pick if you want one vendor to process payments and include a customer-success and sales team, a built-in applicant tracking board, single sign-on and an API, or a vendor in business since 2008. Whatever you choose, redo the math every six months, because a share that was cheap last year may not be this year.

Read from each vendor's own pricing page on October 19, 2026, with monthly billing selected, except SmartJobBoard (April 2025 archived copy). Year one is twelve months at the entry plan plus any setup fee. The full comparison: SmartJobBoard alternatives.
How do I switch from SmartJobBoard?
- Get the payout schedule: on a revenue share, ask in writing when your last payout arrives and what happens to payments still processing.
- Export first: download jobs, employers and candidates before you cancel.
- Keep your URLs: redirect old job pages so Google for Jobs traffic follows you, and keep the markup valid on the new board (see JobPosting schema for Google for Jobs).
- Set up your own payments: connect Stripe on the new board before launch, since employers will pay you directly.
- Tell employers: send repeat buyers the new posting link on launch day. If listings drop out of Google afterwards, fixing Google for Jobs schema errors covers the usual causes.
Frequently asked questions
How much does SmartJobBoard cost?
SmartJobBoard does not publish a price today. It quotes either a revenue share on each job sold or a flat annual fee. Its last public price, on its own pricing page in April 2025, was $439 a month billed monthly ($5,268 a year), or $329 a month billed annually.
What is SmartJobBoard's revenue share percentage?
SmartJobBoard does not publish it. Ask sales for the percentage in writing, then divide the flat price you are comparing by it: at 30%, a $2,148 plan costs the same once your yearly sales reach $7,160.
When did SmartJobBoard stop publishing its prices?
Between April 22 and November 13, 2025, according to the Internet Archive's copies of its pricing page. The April copy shows Premium at $439 a month. The November copy shows no price.
Does SmartJobBoard have a free trial?
Its site still has a Try it free button. When SmartJobBoard published prices, the trial was 14 days. Its current pricing page does not state a trial length, so confirm it before you sign up.
Is SmartJobBoard worth it?
Yes, if your sales are small or you want payments, hosting and support handled by one vendor. Once a revenue share costs more than a flat plan would, ask for the flat price or compare other platforms.
What is the best SmartJobBoard alternative?
For publishers and newsletters, Kardow, with a public price and 0% of your sales. For associations whose members must sign in with their association login, compare platforms that list single sign-on: Cavuno on every plan, JBoard on its top plan and Niceboard on its custom plan. For boards built on thousands of imported jobs, JBoard. The SmartJobBoard alternatives page compares all five.
